Using Biofuel CI to Derive Emission Scopes for GHG Inventory

Does anyone have suggested guidance to use a fuel's CI value to derive/allocate it to scopes 1 & 3 for a corporate GHG inventory using the GHG Protocol? Also, are the biogenic CO2 emissions from the fuel's combustion (TTW) included in the LCA & CI value? Thanks!

I am not aware of any LCA model that presents the results in such a way that it is easy to separate the emissions into scope 1, 2, or 3.

One of the problems is the electricity emissions being split between scope 2 (direct) and 3 (fuel production emissions for fuels used to produce electricity).

LCA models have different levels of disaggregation of the total emissions. GHGenius is easier to pull out the emissions for a particular activity than it is in GREET, for example.

Biofuel LCA and CIs are almost always presented net of the Biogenic CO2. Some models will present the biogenic CO2 emissions separately.
