Gasoline as an energy input was created by acosgrove
Hi,
I'm working on modeling a project where gasoline is used as an energy input at a facility (with the L of gasoline known), in a addition to diesel. Since there is no specific input for gasoline in the 'Alternative Fuel Production' section on the 'Input' tab or on the 'Alt Fuel Prod' tab, what is the best way to consider gasoline as an input in GHGenius?
Thanks,
Andrea

There are two main ways to tackle this problem.
The first way is to simply use the petroleum input on Alt Fuel Prod in row 57 of 5.01g. This fuel is roughly equivalent to gasoline, although it is not directly linked to gasoline.
The second way is more complicated but can allow us to create a fuel that IS directly linked to gasoline. From rows 80 to 87 we have a section labelled as "Other Fuel Input" that allows the user to input any fuel where we know the GHG impact. I'm going to assume we want to input litres of gasoline, where we'll need three things:
That's it. Row 84 can now be used as a gasoline input into any fuel.

I'm going to assume we want to input litres of gasoline, where we'll need three things:
- The upstream emissions from Upstream Results HHV!D20
- The combustion emissions from Equip Emis Factors!L25
- The energy density from Fuel Char!B100
- In CM84 we need the upstream g-CO2e/litre. Using shorthand from the list above, this is equal to #1 /1000 * #3.
- In CN84 we need the combustion g-CO2e/litre. Using shorthand from the list above, this is equal to #2 / 1000 * #3.
- In CO84 we need the energy density in MJ/litre. Using shorthand from the list above, this is equal to #3.
- Select gasoline from CP84.
- For CP84 to CX84, drag the equations from the row above. It should autofill appropriately.
That's it. Row 84 can now be used as a gasoline input into any fuel.
