Changelog:

New Pathways:

  • Two new feedstocks for ethanol production, rye and triticale, have been added to the model. Both feedstocks have been used commercially in Canada.
    • The data is in the model is consistent with the data used in CFR new feedstock applications.

Data Updates:

  • Canadian electricity historical and forecast mixes have been updated using the Canadian Energy Regulator’s 2023 Energy Futures publication.
  • US electricity historical (up to 2024) and forecast (from 2025) mixes have been updated using US Energy Information Administration data and forecasts.
  • Europe electricity mixes have been updated with 2024 data from EuroStats.
  • Biomass production yield data has been updated using Statistics Canada, USDA and FAO data depending on the region.
  • US corn and soybean fertilizer time series has been updated with USDA data.
  • US and Canada rail energy use time series has been updated. The US data source was changed to the DoT Bureau of Transportation Statistics. No significant change in the historical data from the change but the rate of changes in both Canada and the US has slowed with the updated data.
  • US marine energy use time series has been updated.
  • Canadian crude oil production volumes have been updated with data from Statistics Canada.
  • Crude oil refined slates for Canada have been updated with data from Statistics Canada.

Structural Changes:

  • The rate of change in the biomass production yield data and US corn and soybean fertilizer use is now used dynamically in the model. Updating these time series will now allow the forecast yields and fertilizer consumed to change automatically.
  • Some intermediate values were removed from the Fertilizer sheet.

Bug fixes:

  • A number of small bug fixes were implemented.
